Process time TP

Definition

REFA time type, which marks the duration for the execution of work processes with internal (technical, technological and organisational) connection to multiple work systems. It comprises value-adding and non-value-adding elements. A distinction is made between process throughput time and process time requirement:

  • Process throughput time TDP describes the duration of a process for one unit (order) for all involved work systems. It comprises the sum of work system throughput time and occasionally occurring supplementary times. With branched process courses, each individual path’s longest throughput time is the process throughput time. Supplementary times mainly occur in existent processes. The following aspects flow into the process throughput time:
  • The (work) time requirement for the execution of all technological procedures of the process as execution times.
  • The (work) time requirement for the execution of all logistical procedures of the process that is necessary to pass the work object through the process and on to the customer. It includes the time for the provision of the input prior to the first technological operation.
  • The resting time, that comprises all times, in which the work object remains untreated within the process.
  • Supplementary times as a result of interruptions or malfunctions of the process as well as additional tasks in unmanaged processes or due to deviations from the planned process solution.

The process time requirement TAP describes the process-related amount of work.
