Process Structure

Definition

Refers to the succession and the linking of process steps of a defined work process e.g. process chains, procedures and tasks whereby simple, parallel and alternating sequences as well as combinations (networking) thereof are possible. REFA distinguishes the following basic forms:

  • simple succession (without ramification),

  • succession with AND-division,

  • succession with AND-division and AND-link,

  • succession with AND-division and AND-loop-link,

  • succession with OR-division,

  • succession with OR-division and OR-link,

  • succession with OR-division and OR-loop-link.

These basic forms can occur simultaneously in a process.
