Work Station

Definition

Spatial area in which a work system is arranged (DIN EN ISO 6385). It incorporates the necessary areas for the array and maintenance of equipment, placement of people and work objects. Workplace design often refers to the purposive, i.e. work beneficial or work supportive array of the workstation (array of equipment and resources, determination of the location of operating points and areas for the provision of materials, arrangement if lights, etc.). It is part of the REFA-Work System Design.
