Time Category Procedure

Definition

Special procedure for the approximate determination of time data when comparing and estimating tasks that are executed infrequently on the basis of time spans (intervals, time categories), with regard to so-called standard work ( similar, clearly described and, in terms of time, evaluated work included in the time category catalogue). Time categories are consecutive intervals without gaps, which are defined by the respective time category mean value t (min) as well as a temporal upper and lower limit. The principle is to compare the observed task with a suitable standardised work. From this, it is deduced whether the basic time tg of the standard task can be adopted or the differences between the two tasks justify the application of a different time category. Time category catalogues can be used in particular in maintenance, crafts, tool making and jig manufacturing, in construction, agriculture and in the service and administrative sectors.
