Confidence level

Definition

Describes a measure for assessing the quality of collected data by limiting the scatter range of the values of a sample. Both the absolute and relative confidence intervals are used when determining time data:

  • The absolute confidence interval f (in %) indicates how far the determined values may deviate or deviate from the true value,

  • the relative confidence interval ε (in %) expresses the ratio of f to the determined value p (proportion value).

The larger the permissible confidence interval, the less data must be determined. The desired confidence interval results from the objective of the investigation. It is, for example, 2, 2.5 % for multimoment surveys.
