Definition

An elementary method of obtaining information and data by talking to knowledgeable people; often used in conjunction with work studies (interviewing). Forms:

  • Free interview - free flow of conversation without predetermined response options on pre-determined topics in individual or group interviews to elicit specific clues, opinions and ideas.
  • Structured interview - questioning of employees in individual or group interviews, where the questions, their sequence, the possible answers (closed question form) and the behaviour of the interviewer are determined in advance. Advantage: comparability of results, disadvantage: fixed procedure.
