Determination of set-up time

Definition

A term for the way of capturing, describing and influencing the work process and the respective spent time. The REFA process analysis can be used to determine the process section occurring at set-up according to type, sequence and duration (e.g. providing, gathering and reading documents, making and checking of settings, etc.) This procedure is often not sufficiently known in detail. A methodological problem is that the set-up can often not be executed and recorded as a closed cycle, but takes place in several phases before, during or after the execution of the core task. The performance degree is usually not taken into account. The determined work data are used for the minimisation of set-up times, for work design as well as for the determination of allowed times.
